Starburst Sketch Challenge


Every Thursday the DOstampers are doing challenges.  They are Sketch, color and picture challenges.  This week it is a sketch challenge as you can see above.  You can also join in on the fun!!  If you do decide to participate, let me know and I will post a link of your creations that you have done.  I will also be posting links to all the DOstampers that are participating in the sketch challenge today. 

Starburst Saying's can't go wrong!!

The other day I just got another one of those Stampin' Up! boxes from the guy that wears Brown.  LOL  I was so excited to use something from that box, of course it was full of products from the new Occasions Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  If you haven't checked either of these out.....YOU MUST!!  They are so many NEW products that you are going to LOVE!

So from my box of goodies I decided to use the Starburst Sayings stamp set.  The best part of using this set is that there are Framelits that you can get to cut them out.   And of course you can save 15% when you buy both of these in a bundle.  How great is that!!  I also wanted to make it more of a manly card.  This is a challenge for me in itself.  What do you think about Chevron Ribbon?!?!  I love it!  You really can't go wrong with a Chevron pattern these days.  This ribbon is new in the Occasions Catalog.  I used the Chevron Embossing folder for the Soft Suede piece of cardstock.  Below is a list of products that I used on this card.

Minion Birthday Card

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS LITTLE MAN!!!
This is my Grandson Carson.

It was his birthday recently and he turned 8 yrs old!   He has been through allot the last couple of years and has been a trooper through it all.  It has made him grow up a little faster then most his age, but he has grown into such a little man.  In this picture he is eating a Chocolate cover Strawberry that I had sent to him on his birthday.  He LOVE' EM!!

Below is one of his favorite characters from the Despicable Me Movies.  He loves these movies!!!  I do have to give credit to Gill Prescott for the card.  She did an awesome card!!  When I saw it, I had to case it for Carson.

How adorable is he!!!

This Minion was so much fun to make.  I love punch art to begin with.  So making this for Carson was exciting.  Hope you enjoy him as much as I did.

Picture Challenge



Our group, the DOstampers, are doing challenges every Thursday.   We have a very talented group of ladies!!  If you would like to join us for some fun and creativity you are more then Welcome.  If you do join us, please send me a link to your post so I can post it here.  I will also post links to the DOstampers that are participating in the challenge.

Love - Love the Ampersand Embossing Folder!!

So with the picture challenge we are to look at the photo and create a card from something that we have taken away from the photo.  With this photo it was very easy to know what I was going to do.  With Valentine's Day coming soon and the hearts in the photo = Valentine's!  As I sat down to come up with the above card, I started to think of all the people that I have in my life that I love and cherish.  WOW!!!  I better get going and start making those Valentine's cards!!

In this card I used Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock.  I really like these colors together, the black makes it all pop!  The Ampersand Embossing folder is NEW, you can find it in the newest Occasions Catalog.  As always....Stampin' Up! has out done themselves again with this catalog.  The stamp sets that I used are also in the new catalog.  They are called "Language of Love" and "Perfect Pennants".   With the Perfect Pennants stamp set you can bundle it with the framlits and SAVE!

The thing that I like best about the bundles are that you can stamp your images and then go to your Big Shot and cut it out with the framelits.  How easy is that!!  No more cutting out your images, you know how time consuming that is!  This is just as easy as punching out your images.  You really have to check out all the bundles that Stampin' Up! is offering.  There are 7 NEW Bundles just in the new Occasions Catalog.

Resist Embossing Technique





Love this Technique!!
 
Using the Festive Flurry snowflake stamp set with this technique is wonderful and so graceful looking.  The Island Indigo ink with the white snowflakes really make the snowflakes pop!  Above you will see 2 cards that I did with this technique.  Why, you ask???  I did this for my Technique Club and couldn't decide which one I liked better. 
 
This is the one that I decided to use for the club.
 

I decided to use this one because it was so clean cut and simply but yet elegant.  My club members loved it!  I know this technique has been around for awhile, but I have some newer stampers in my club and it is nice to show them the older but yet fabulous techniques.  Another thing that I believe makes the card is the Silver Glimmer cardstock.  Always have to have some bling!

I do still love how this one turned out.
 
Another thing that is so great about the Festive Flurry stamp set is that you can buy it in a bundle with the Festive Flurry Framelits.  NO cutting out the snowflakes by hand!!!!  Love that Stampin' Up! is coming out with a lot more bundles.

Sketch Challenge Thursday

I know I am a little late....OK allot late.
This is challenge from last Thursday.

LOVE, LOVE the Snowflakes!
 
As I previous posted I was a little bit behind in posting my challenge card from last week.  But I had in mind what I wanted to do for this card, so I wanted to make sure you got to see it.
 
Stampin' Up! products that I used on this card.
Cardstock & Ink:  Island Indigo & Ink, Pool Party, Whisper White, Winter Frost DSP stack and of course the Bling...Silver Glimmer paper.
Stamp Sets:  Festive Flurry and Snow Day
Accessories:  Basic Rhinestones, Frosted Finishes (LOVE EM!), Big Shot and Festive Flurry Framelits.
 
The best thing about the Festive Flurry stamp set is that you don't have to cut out all the snowflakes yourself!  It has Festive Flurry Framelits that will cut them out for you.

A little delay


These are my precious Grandkids!!!
 
They are the reason that I miss the DOstampers Thursday challenge this week.  I was crafting their Halloween gifts.  I made them the Chiclets Gum keepers, Tic Tac Holders and another treat holder for a Kit Kat Mini bar.  I know it is early for me to get this all done, but I needed to get it in the mail so they have it in time for Halloween.  These are my daughters children.  They just recently moved from here in MN to TX.  First time for all of them to be out of MN and away from Mom/Grandma.  It is a very hard adjustment for all of us at this point.  But it is getting better day by day.  I do have 2 more grandkids still here in MN that are my sons children.  Of course they are getting the same treat holders as the others ones.   You know how that goes....have to keep it the same!  LOL
 
I promise I will get the challenge card done and post it here.  Along with as many of the DOstampers links to their wonderful creations.  Today's challenge is a sketch challenge.  I will be posting in the next couple of day.
