Color Six Sided Sampler Challenge

Here we are again with challenge Thursday.  This week is flying by!!  It helps that it is only a 4 day work week!

I just love these colors together!  They are soft, but yet, they have such a pop to them.  It is even better when you use Smokey Slate.  LOL  I don't know what I was looking at last night, but I used Smokey Slate instead of Basic Gray.  Oh well it still came out nice! You can judge for yourself!

I cased this card out of the Stampin' Up! catalog.  It is on page 125.  Of course I changed the colors to match the color challenge, and didn't even get that right!

I have to admit that I really never used this stamp set until last night to make this card.  I have used the words but never the six sided images.  What I really like about this set is that it has a punch to go with the six sided images to punch out.  Stampin' Up! makes it so easy for us!!  What is even better...you can still get the Bundle and SAVE 15%.  So you would get the stamp set and the punch.  But hurry you only have 2 more days.

The little button is filled with the silver that is from the Silver Bakers Twine.  I just took off the silver in the twine and threaded it through the button and tied a bow.  I believe it gave the card a little extra accent.  For the six sided hexagon that has the hole in it, I stamped the image on Whisper White cardstock and then punched out a 3/4" hole in any color cardstock and centered the punched circle in the middle of the stamped image and took the 3/4" punch and punched the hole.  The 3/4" hole I punched the 1st time was for a guide to get it centered in the middle of the stamped image.

Sneak Peek Sketch

It is that time of the week.  This weeks DOstampers challenge as you can see is a sketch challenge.  But this week for me was a little bit.....OK allot more exciting for me!  I used some NEW Stampin' Up! products that will be coming out in a few weeks.  If you haven't gotten your new Stampin' Up! Catalog yet....just let me know and I can send you one.

LOVE the new COLORS!

I couldn't wait to use my new stamp set that I received at the Catalog Premiere.  The stamp set is called  "Work of Art".  This one is right up my alley, it is following the the foot steps of Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I have really gotten into the grunge stamping lately.

In the card above I turned the sketch and did it on the side.  Below you will see it in the upright position.  When I do the sketch challenges it is always fun to take and turn the cards to make it more of a challenge.  Also it gets the creative juices flowing!!

Did you notice the DSP!?!  This is a NEW.....it is called "Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack".  You are going to LOVE IT!! I should just say that you are going to love the new Stampin' Up! Catalog that is out NOW, but you will be able to order from it in 16 Days!  Not that I am counting or anything.  LOL   Did you also notice the FABULOUS ribbon on the cards????  Yes that is the new In-Color Ribbon that has stitching and is made of satin.  It makes it so easy to work with.  And the colors of course are awesome!

Hopping on with Fringe

I know I am a little late for Easter.....
but I wanted to share my Carrot Garden with you.
Love how this turned out!
This was another one of my projects for the DOstamper Stars guest designer for April.  I had a riot coming up with the different creative projects to post each weekend.  It really got the creative juices flowing!!

Don't you just love the little carrots!?!
For those little carrots a took a strip of Tangerine Tango cardstock and my Bone Folder and ran the cardstock across the Bone Folder like you do with curling ribbon.  This help break down the fibers in the cardstock so it was easier to roll up in a small cone.  I used the Multipurpose Glue to glue the cone together.  With the uneven ends that you get when you roll up the cone, I just tucked those into the inside of the cone.   I then took a Garden Green strip about a 1" to 1 1/2" and cut with the Fringe Scissors and then rolled it up and glue it.  I took and glued this to the inside of the cone.  How cute are those Carrots!?!

The fence part of the project, I found at a local dollar spot.  I painted the fence up some Acrylic paint.  Of course you have to have grass!!  I cut strips of Garden Green for all sides of the fence and cut with the Fringe Scissors.  The grass inside is also made with Garden Green cardstock.  For this I cut a strip of cardstock that was about 5" and then cut that with the Fringe Scissors all the way through.  So you end up with little strips of cardstock.  I took all of those pieces and just crumbled them up.  And of course you have to have the Chocolate Bunny to finish off the project.

Retired Products.  Hurry before your favorites are gone!

Holder of the Cards

YOU CAN ALWAYS USE SOMETHING TO HOLD YOUR CARDS!
The month of April I was asked to be the DOstamper STARS guest designer.  Of course I said yes!!  This is another project that I did as the guest designer.

I love how the Card Holder turned out.

The Holder/box is from Target Dollar spot.  When I seen it just sitting there in its own little cubby, it was calling my name to do something fun with it.  So of course I just had to get it!!

To make this FABULOUS flower is really pretty easy.  I started with a 2 1/2 x 11" Pc of Melon Mambo cardstock.  I then folded that in half and glued the 2 ends together.  Remember less is more with the Multipurpose glue.  Then you will take your Fringe Scissors and cut at an angle along side the folded edge.  Do this for the whole strip of cardstock.

Once you have completed the fringing of the cardstock you are ready to roll it up to make our flower.  Some people use Sticky Strip for putting it together.  I used Multipurpose Glue again.  I put the glue on a little at a time as I was rolling up the flower.  I did make a flower out of DSP as well.  I just wanted to see the difference between the cardstock and DSP.  I preferred the cardstock one as you can see.

Here is the difference between the cardstock widths that you start out with.
The 1 1/2" flower is just so darn CUTE!!

Here is a close up of the flower.

When I attached the flower onto the holder I did use Hot Glue.  For the spectacular looking Melon Mambo Streamers.....I spritzed some Creped Filter Paper with Melon Mambo and the cut with my Fringe Scissors.  The leaves are cut out with the Big Shot and the leaves from the Secret Garden Framelits.

This Card box will make a great gift!!!
